This is a young Bichon Pup. They are wonderful cheery dogs and love to be around people. I fell in love with this one's soft, dark eyes.

Bernese Mountain Dog

5" x 5" x 1" Wood Block Painting

This one is painted a bit more realisticly than a usually do, but sometimes the subject just takes over. I had to put him in a setting suited for a dog as majestic as this one.

Golden Retriever In Heaven

5" x 5" x1" Wood Block Painting
Yikes, another Golden Retriever. This boy is doing his favorite thing. I did not take this picture but came across it on a dog website. I thought it would be fun to do and somewhat of a challange to paint. The fun part of the painting was putting the tennis ball in his mouth.

Beautiful Rose - Portuguese Water Dog

Wood Block Paintings 5" x 5.5" x1"

This is a painting of my beautiful dog Rose. She was sweet and loyal but also the smartest dog I ever knew. With Rose the difference was if you threw a ball out a second story window Rose would race down the stairs and out the door while the other dogs would just bark and look down at the ball on the lawn. Actually, I had Labrador once that probably would have jumped out the window to go after the ball.
Rose's favorite thing to do was to go out in the boat at lowtide on the Westport River and play catch with her Frisbee on a sandbar.

Scotty - King Of His Domain

Wood Block Painting 5" x 5" x 1"
This guy is really a white Scottish Terrier but I decided to gave him some color, artistic license and all. I also placed him outside, instead of indoors, this gives him that King of the Mountain look.

A Very Handsome Irish Setter

Wood Block Painting 5" x 5.5" x 1"

I have always loved the coat and color of an Irish Setter, they also have a wonderful dignity about them. I played with the background color a bit from playful blue to a hot yellow, but I had to go with a rich dark color to capture the regal quality of this breed.

For Uno The Beagle

Wood Block Paintings 5" x"x5" x1"

This one is for Uno, just in case you don't know, he won the Westminister Dog Show. I don't think a Beagle has ever won the event. It is nice to see a dog that doesn't have to have its hair and nails done everyday win. Way to go Uno! Happy Valentine's Day, and yes, his nose is shaped a bit like a heart, didn't noticed until I was finished with the painting, I'm not that corny.

A Romp At The Beach

Wood Block Painting 5" x 5.5" x 1"
Did this painting this morning, it is a nasty raining day in February so my thoughts went to a better place, the beach. Did this from a photo I took of a dog at Horseneck Beach in Westport, Ma. The dog caught my eye, you could just see the exuberance and delight he felt in being there.

Waiting

Wood Block Painting 5" x 5.5" x 1"

This is a painting I did this morning. I did the painting from a sketch I drew of my dog Moose. Moose is a pound dog, we got him from a pound in Mississippi. Every morning he sits in the backyard and looks out to the beyond. Sometimes he sits there for quite awhile, I always wonder what he is waiting for or what deep thoughts he is thinking.

Wally The Yorky

Wood Block Painting 5.5" x 5.5 x 1"

This is a painting of Wally, a Yorkshire Terrrier. We dog sat for him while his owners were away. He is just 6 months old so they did not want their baby to go to a kennel. He was just a doll but had some problems around toilet training but caught on really fast watching and "sniffing" our dogs. Wally is back at home and I hear he is doing fine.
